In 2010, significant changes to the MARPOL resolution will affect shipping in the ECA (Emission Control Area) of the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. As from 1. July 2010, the maximum suphur content of fuel oil used at sea will be reduced from1,5% to 1%.
Shipping lines have increased MARPOL fees and as a result of this Blue Water will increase the MARPOL charge from 0,25% to 0,55% from the 1. July for road transports to Norway & Sweden.
Peak Season will be affecting airline freight capacity and freight rates, unfortunately temporarily and in some cases resulting in peak season surcharges. Contact your local Blue Water office for further information or alternative solutions by sea-air.
