Cutting of the first sod for Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm was marked by the departure of a monopile from Grenaa port.
Blue Water Shipping participated when the first sod was cut for
Anholt Offshore Wind Farm in the new warehouse of DONG Energy in
Grenaa, Denmark.
The opening address was given by Anders Eldrup, Managing Director
of DONG Energy. He emphasized the significance that the largest
offshore wind farm will have for Denmark, while stressing that the
operators will be facing significant challenges during the future
installation phases.
Danish Minister for Climate, Energy and Building, Martin
Lidegaard, was prevented from participating due to back pains, but
sent a greeting by video:
"The construction of one of the world's giant offshore wind farms
is a big step for Denmark, and a big step on the road to realizing
the ambitions of a society based 100 percent on sustainable
energy", the minister said.
Following the speeches, a monopile was shipped to mark the start
of construction. Unofficially, the first monopile was installed on
31 December last year, and a further two piles have been installed
since then from the installation vessel "Svanen".
Blue Water Shipping was represented by Business Development
Manager Jacob Kjaergaard and Office Manager Frank Larsen,
Grenaa.
As a 24/7 one-point-contact for project operators, Blue Water
Shipping has many assignments waiting ahead. Blue Water Shipping
has been busy with the project for a long time already, having the
responsibility to guide vessels which require repair, supply and
stevedoring safely into port.
"In addition, we assist onshore staff with accommodation, office
facilities and crew change, and among other things, we have
procured a minibus to transport the crew to and from the airport",
says Frank Larsen.
"This is a large and exciting assignment. We look forward to
delivering high quality services and solutions as well as
flexibility, so that we create the best possible conditions for our
business partners in connection with the erection of the wind
farm", Frank Larsen concludes.
